2016 Southwest Facing Sauvignon Blanc

Inaugural Offering

Upchurch Vineyard Southwest Facing Sauvignon Blanc

100% Sauvignon Blanc from Boushey Vineyard

Aged 18 months on the lees in cement eggs
Cases produced: 200

This single plot of Sauvignon Blanc is from Dick Boushey’s County line road Vineyard, which Chris and Dick collaborated on in 2001.  Revisiting old world techniques and combining them with modern winemaking has encouraged us to ferment and age our Sauvignon Blanc “Sur Lie” in cement egg-shaped tanks for 18 months. This method has resulted in a very complex and delicious wine, unlike any other.

Winemaker Notes

There are aromas of pear, lime chutney, honey sage and passion fruit.  This riper Sauvignon Blanc exhibits great purity and complexity with an elegant yet plush mouthfeel.  The flavors show white peaches, honeyed stone minerality, and bosch pears, along with mouthwatering,  juicy lime acidity.  The finish is compact, long and very promising.
