Tasting Room Lead

During his 36-year career as a Chemical Engineer, Andy developed a passion for wine.  His exposure to and appreciation of fine wine really blossomed while living in the Central Coast of California and then in Napa and Sonoma after a work transfer to the Bay Area.  Trips to Switzerland, France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy helped hone his palate.  Upon retirement, he and his wife decided to find a lower cost of living area that still provided fine wine for them to enjoy.  Their search led them to the Red Mountain AVA and the surrounding area.  Upon being hired into Kiona’s tasting room, Andy expanded his wine knowledge by obtaining Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 and Level 3 certification, passing both with Distinction.  He is now thrilled to be working for Upchurch Vineyards and sharing their world class wines with visitors to the winery.
