This single plot of Sauvignon Blanc is from Dick Boushey’s County line road Vineyard, which Chris and Dick collaborated on in 2001. Revisiting old world techniques and combining them with modern winemaking has encouraged us to ferment and age our Sauvignon Blanc “Sur Lie” in cement egg-shaped tanks for 18 months. This method has resulted in a very complex and delicious wine, unlike any other. We are exceptionally proud of the 2018 vintage, our third of Southwest Facing, and hope you enjoy its rich and unique character.
Winemaker Notes
The 2018 Upchurch Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc leans a little bit more to the herbs and grasses side of Sauvignon Blanc, while still showing all exotic fruits of previous vintages. The aroma exhibits solid minerality, citrus peel, pear, and sage. Flavors double down on pear and minerality but add kiwi, star-fruits and white peaches. The structure has great acidity, balance, and length. Every year proves to us how much we love this style of sur lie cement fermented Sauvignon Blanc. - Chris Upchurch
